Dear Cass Nevada,

Thank you for nominating Pratt Fine Art Center for the 9th annual Mayor’s Arts Awards. We were very pleased to receive so many highly qualified public nominations for the awards. It is wonderful to learn of the many contributions of individuals and organizations to our community through arts and culture. With so many outstanding nominees, the final selection was very difficult. We received more than 300 nominations this year. We are happy to announce Pratt Fine Art Center was selected as a recipient of the 2011 Mayor’s Arts Award.

The recipients of the 2011 Mayor’s Arts Awards are:

  • Donald Byrd, choreographer and artistic director of Spectrum Dance Theater
  • Jack Straw Productions
  • Quinton Morris, violinist and educator
  • On the Boards
  • Pratt Fine Arts Center
  • Tet in Seattle, producer of the annual Tet Festival celebrating Vietnamese culture

We hope that you will join us for the awards ceremony at 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept 1 at Seattle Center on the North Fountain Lawn. The outdoor ceremony will feature award presentations followed by free entry to the visual arts exhibits at Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival.

Following the ceremony, you are also invited to join us at a private reception with the recipients and Mayor Mike McGinn. You will receive an invitation in the mail in mid-July.

Again, many thanks for your participation in this year’s awards. We hope that you will continue to help us highlight the achievements of those whose contributions in arts and culture make Seattle a wonderful place to live, work and visit.

Sincerely,

Vincent E. Kitch
